Holy Week | Day 6: Silence of the Tomb
⚔️ THE MOMENT
The streets have gone quiet.
The cross stands bare.
The King is in a tomb.
Saturday. The in-between. The day nobody talks about.
Jesus, crucified.
Hope, buried.
Heaven, silent.
Luke 23 paints the scene with reverent sorrow: Joseph of Arimathaea takes the body of Jesus, wraps it in linen, and lays it in a tomb cut from rock. The women who followed Him stand back and watch, unsure, heartbroken, stunned. The Sabbath begins. And with it—stillness.
But behind the stillness, God is moving.
🔥 THE TENSION
We don’t like waiting. Especially in the dark.
But this day—the silence of the tomb—is part of the story.
There are no miracles today. No messages. No movement.
But God has not abandoned His plan. His Son may be silent, but the work is not over.
“So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.”
— Matthew 27:66
The guards thought they were preventing resurrection.
God was preparing it.
The enemy thought the silence meant defeat.
But Heaven was holding its breath for victory.
🧭 THE LESSON FOR US
Some of us are living in Saturday.
You’ve seen your “Friday” moments—pain, loss, betrayal, disappointment.
You’re not at the resurrection yet. You’re stuck in the in-between.
You’re praying, but hearing nothing.
You’re trying to trust, but feel unsure.
You’re waiting in silence, and wondering if God’s still working.
He is.
The tomb was sealed, but the plan of redemption wasn’t.
💪 WHAT DO STEADFAST MEN DO WHILE THEY WAIT?
1. They stay close.
The women stayed near the tomb. Steadfast men don’t run from silence—they lean into it.
2. They keep honoring.
Even when it looked over, they still prepared spices. Honor doesn’t wait for clarity—it obeys through faith.
3. They rest under God’s rule.
The Sabbath wasn’t a break in the plan—it was part of it. God calls us to trust Him when it’s time to be still.
🔍 REFLECT
Where are you waiting on God?
What tombs in your life feel sealed shut and lifeless?
Don’t despise the silence.
This is the space between death and resurrection.
It’s where the seed is buried.
Where character is forged.
Where faith is tested.
Where God works behind the scenes.
“It is the glory of God to conceal a thing…” — Proverbs 25:2
He’s not absent. He’s at work—even now.
✍️ JOURNAL PROMPT
Take 15 minutes in silence.
Write down one area in your life that feels like a “sealed tomb.”
Then write this boldly beneath it:
“He is not here: for He is risen.” — Matthew 28:6
The tomb is temporary. Resurrection is coming.
ACTION STEP
Fast today from noise, media, or comfort.
